Boy or Girl?

Today marks a very special day for my wife and I. I am so pumped up and excited and nervous. I don’t know why I’m nervous, but I am. Will it be a boy that I can teach to play football and soccer and that will carry on my name? Or will it be a little princess that I get to spoil?

Today is the first day that I can finally allow the pregnancy to become truly real. We no longer will be parents to a tadpole, but to a little person. Here’s what BabyCenter.com says the baby should look like at 20 weeks:

Either way, it doesn’t matter to me. I just feel blessed to be having a child. It is so cliche, but, honestly, after what Christine and I have been through, a healthy child, boy or girl, sounds perfect to me.

I always pictured having a boy first, then a girl, so that the older brother could take care of the sister and look out for her. But, I have an older sister and we are best friends and we were taught to always look out for each other. So, really, the older brother thing is a bit over-rated, I think.

But, let’s take it to a vote and see what you all think:

If you don’t get the “Lizard” reference, go check out some of Bill Cosby’s stand-up routine about when his wife gave birth to their first child. Hilarious stuff!

Look for a follow-up post later today (time willing) and more posts on this blog about the final 20 weeks and beyond!
